Wednesday Training and SAVA Sprints 2010 (This weekend!)
Just a reminder that THIS Wednesday’s training will be at Kallang (water training as per popular demand), meeting at 8.45am to be on the water by 9am and training until 10.30am and NO POOL TRAINING.
FOR the SAVA Sprints this weekend: Meet at 8am THIS Saturday for the SAVA Sprints (250 metres only, it’ll be a winner!) at Lower Seletar Reservoir Near Yishun. More details.
Emergency contact is Mifie as I’m away this weekend. Please let her know of any suspected delays or impediments as to why you cannot be at the race site on time (although frankly, we expect better than that from you).For those of you racing, you should hopefully all have paid your $40 to Mifie (if not, make sure you bring it THIS Wednesday). Upon arrival at 8am, you will be given a RACE TAG, which you WILL wear for the ENTIRE weekend. As ever, breakdown of $40 covers race registration fee, Saturday’s Sandwich Shop sandwiches, Sunday’s dinner
at RedDot (DEMPSEY, and hope you emailed Gemma earlier to let her know your food choices) and all the water/100+ you can drink over the two days.
While you’re all becoming real pros at racing, REMEMBER:
Times for races are subject to CONSTANT change so PLEASE:
- know which event you’re competing in (refer to carefully prepared laminated race sheets);
- stay close to the team tent;
- let us (the Committee) know your whereabouts at all times when NOT close to the team tent.
How to behave:
Like the British Team, perfectly, but better, competitively, and remember, still no harassing the captains about boat layouts.
Pot Luck Note For Sunday:
Sunday lunch = Pot Luck (except for those who pre-ordered lunch). The others, nothing less than a palatial spread to share (the usual then) that won’t sink the post-lunch boat is required from you.
What to wear:
Race kit (including bandana or British Team cap) and racing colours, RACE TAG always.
Kenny will be bringing extra kit (drinking shirts, racing singlets and bandanas) if you don’t have these already.
Don’t forget your flip
flops (odd rule that these are necessary when entering the boat, or you won’t be allowed to paddle at all).
Limit your belongings at the race site to a minimum.
For Sunday evening (RedDot DEMPSEY, from 8pm), there’ll be enough time to go home, get changed and glammed up with your drinking shirt and anything else that glitters (and DON’T FORGET your British Team Card!).
Those of you NOT racing but wanting to socialize, dinner is $20, and the message is, the more the merrier!
As ever, Party Hard, Paddle Harder and I want to hear feats of dashing, devilry and bling over 250 metres upon my return. Good Luck All, I know you can do it, Rebecca
