The registration page is at:
For each race please indicate “Yes” / “No” / “Maybe” (if you check “Maybe” then please tell us why in the notes box). Even if you are not planning to participate in any of the above races (or only a few) then please take a few moments to fill out the form so that the Captains can plan ahead.
On Saturday we’ll have a beach BBQ and beers from RedDot immediately after training.
What: ….. Beach BBQ
When:….. 21st July 2012 (6.00pm – immediately after training)
If you have not done so then you can pay your $10 to the Social Secretaries on the day, but – if you want to partake of the BBQ – you must sign-up before the end of Friday 20th July 2012. If you don’t sign-up then food will not be provided for you.
You can sign-up to the Beach BBQ on the new “Active Paddlers” facebook group (look for the “events” tab to sign-up):
If you are bringing a friend along or want the Veggie choice of BBQ then just leave a note on the events page for the BBQ so that numbers can be gauged.
Do bring along your team drinking shirt to change into plus any personal choice of wines or spirits. Oh, and if you know how to hum the “Dambusters March”, then your musical talents may well be called upon later in the evening…
3) RACING MEANS TRAINING
The Captains remind you that if you have signed up to compete in a race then you should also be regularly attending training each week.
Our first race is the Austcham 10Km in August (just over a month away) and already Coach Jason has been conducting tough sets of over 30 minutes duration at the weekends to build endurance and stamina ready for this event. And at Wednesday night pool training back-to-back sets of ten minutes have become usual. So if you’ve been missing training now is the time to get back into it so that your fitness and abilities are well up to the high standards needed for each event – and so that you are fit and able to take part in the training regime itself.
See you at the weekend,
All the best,
Philip N. Morgan – Team Secretary
