REGISTER NOW FOR MARDI GRAS    |    NO TRAINING ON WEEKEND OF 23rd and 24th FEBRUARY    |

1) REGISTER NOW FOR MARDI GRAS

Get your beads ready for Mardi Gras on Saturday 23rd February from 2.00pm – 5.00pm at Kallang.  This is the annual “novelty” race organised by the American Dragons for the International Dragon Boat community in Singapore.

It is a fun event where all the paddlers are randomly formed into boats and head off on a long racing course – usually around 6Km – completing crazy challenges along the way.

I vaguely recall sprinting up a beach to down a large tumbler of Bourbon and trying to eat a face-sized custard pie with my hands behind my back as my boat was paddling away from the shore, but I digress… Suffice to say that you’ll meet plenty of paddlers from other teams, paddle a long distance and have a lot of fun with the various “hurdles” along the way.  Oh and if your boat takes the first three places you’ll get a medal too!

If you want to take part in the Mardi Gras event you must register by midnight on Saturday 16th February.

This event is not open to first-time paddlers and we’ll only be taking part in the race itself (race fee of $20 payable on the day). We won’t be joining the Mardi Gras After-Party as we have our own Annual Team Meeting on that same evening at 7.30pm.

If you want to register for Mardi Gras please send an email immediately to:

secretary@britishdragonboat.com

In the subject line please put:

“My_Name for Mardi Gras”

I’ll acknowledge your email and put you on the registration list.

2) NO TRAINING ON WEEKEND OF 23rd AND 24th FEBRUARY

This is due to the Mardi Gras Event and our Annual Team Meeting on Saturday 23rd.  We’ll need time to recover folks!

See you at Kallang for training as usual this coming weekend.

All the best,
