2) REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR TWO MAJOR EVENTS
Dragon Divas Regatta 2015
Saturday 25th July (afternoon and evening)
The Divas gives a chance for our Ladies to paddle in their own special races and support Breast Cancer awareness… And the Gentlemen also get the chance to show their moves too! Plus it’s all washed down with lots of Beer and a Buffet.
What: ….. Dragon Divas Regatta 2015
When: ….. 11.00am Saturday 25th July 2015 (ends 10.30pm).
Race: ….. 200m
Where: ….. Kallang Riverside Park
Fee: ….. Divas – $45, Drags and Guests – $35 (payable to the Treasurers)
Ladies Registration for the race will be open only until Wednesday 8th July. We need to know whether you will be paddling or not taking part at all… So Ladies – it is a YES/NO from all of you please…
The races will probably be similar to last year:
200m – 10 Crew – Competitive for Ladies
200m – 20 Crew – Fun Race for Ladies
Ladies who take part will receive a free Divas Race Shirt too!
There will be no water race for the ‘Drags’ but they will be “performing” on land…*
Food at the party will be Mexican and Beer by Paulaner.
* “Boys”, before you start moping and fussing and stamping your little feet and going off in a huff I do want to remind you that the British Dragons is indeed an ‘equal opportunity’ team.
Yes, that’s right – there is still a chance for you to take part in the fun at Divas if you wouldn’t mind, ahem, dressing up as a Lady. Have a quiet word with Captain Dan or Captain James and they’ll take your measurements…
So to recap, Ladies will be paddling for medals, our “special ladies” will be dancing and everyone else is welcome (though you will need a wristband to participate and access the drinks and buffet etc.). Ladies, “Special Ladies” (and Supporters/Guests) can register for the wristband by simply paying the Treasurers by Saturday 11th July.
AustCham 10K Challenge
Saturday 5th September (afternoon event)
This is a tough endurance race over 10Km around Marina Bay. It is a mixed 18 paddler boat and takes just under one hour to complete. The British Dragons have a proud track record in this event having been placed 6th out of the 27 boats in 2013 and taking SILVER last year.
It is important to note that all paddlers need to be fit and have the mental and physical stamina to paddle for nearly an hour in race conditions and without any breaks whatsoever. If you are unsure about your suitability or readiness for this event you are very welcome to consult with the Team Manager before registering.
Here is the registration link for both events:
For those of you going to Hong Kong this week, Sam reminds us that as we are in student hostel style accommodation it might be worth taking a towel!
Any questions – just drop me an email!
All the best,
