GOOB IS BACK    |    LO HEI CELEBRATION ON SATURDAY    |    SAVA SPRINTS RACE REGISTRATION CLOSING    |    ANNUAL TEAM MEETING REGISTRATION CLOSING    |    PADDLERS CHOICE AWARD NOMINATIONS CLOSING

1) GOOB IS BACK

We will resume weekly GOOB (“Get-Out-Of-Bed”) sessions starting from this Tuesday 23rd February at 06.30am at Kallang.

If you are keen for an intense session then you are very welcome to attend.

With GOOB we aim to be on time to get the boats onto the water quickly to achieve a one hour intensive race training session. For these early morning sessions we aim to be packed away and done by 08.00am.

For GOOB and weekday training sessions please do remember to bring your own water as none will be provided.

Thereafter training in the following weeks will continue in the usual format:

06.30am Tuesday – GOOB at Kallang
7.00pm Wednesday – Pool Training at Farrer Park Swimming Complex
7.00pm Thursday – Boot Camp OR Pilates (alternating weeks) at Marina Bay Promenade
3.30pm Saturday – Kallang
08.30am Sunday – Kallang

Please aim to bring your own water to all of the training sessions – it saves the team (i.e. you) money and also saves the environmental impact caused by trashing so many plastic bottles.

2) LO HEI CELEBRATION ON SATURDAY

After training on Saturday 20th February 2016 we’ll be having our annual Lo Hei (鱼生) also know as a “Prosperity Toss” on the beach.

This will be a joyous occasion where we will all take our chopsticks and compete to see who can toss a Teochew style raw fish salad highest into the air.  This will summon forth prosperity to the team and will be washed down with beer and soft drinks.

3) SAVA SPRINTS RACE REGISTRATION CLOSING

Please note that the date of the SAVA Sprints has now been confirmed as the weekend of 19th/20th March 2016.  The event will be held at Kallang Riverside Park.

If you wish to race then this involves a commitment for the two full days (probably 07.30-18.00 on both days – though exact timings to be confirmed).  You can register here:
Registration closes on Sunday 21st February.
4) ANNUAL TEAM MEETING (ATM) REGISTRATION CLOSING

The ATM will be held on Saturday 27th February.

The ATM is open to all members of the British Dragons (i.e. those paying Bronze, Silver or Gold subs and fully paid-up with their subscriptions).  If you are a member then please save the date as we do expect you to attend.

Please register your attendance here so that we can organise food:

www.britishdragonboat.com/atm/

We will let you know in due course the new venue for the ATM.  Hahaha – it could be like a secret rave party where you get a cryptic text message on WhatsApp about 30 minutes before it is due to start…
Registration closes on Sunday 21st February.

5) PADDLERS CHOICE AWARD NOMINATIONS CLOSING
As you know the ATM includes a number of awards (“Best Newcomer”, “Best Attendance”, “British Dragon of the Year”, etc.).  This year we are adding a new category: the “Paddlers Choice” award.

We are looking for a paddler who is motivated, maybe made you go the extra mile or perhaps encouraged you to stay in the team or try a new role – basically someone you are really glad to be paddling with and have as a team mate (it may even be a Committee member but can indeed be anyone at all in the team – it really is your choice).

Please take a moment to go to our online form and make your confidential nomination:
We’ll announce the winner of the “Paddlers Choice” award at the ATM.

Nominations close on Sunday 21st February.

See you at Boot Camp tonight or Training and Lo Hei on Saturday.

All the best,

Philip N. Morgan – Team Secretary
British Dragons
– Singapore
