Three great dates for your social calendar

Hello Paddlers

BOAT QUAY REGATTA RACE DINNER   |   CHRISTMAS PADDLE AND BBQ   |   TEAM CHRISTMAS DINNER   |

1) BOAT QUAY REGATTA RACE DINNER

After the Regatta on Sunday 27th November 2011 we will be having our Team Race Dinner.  This will be held at RedDot at Boat Quay which is opening specially for us (so bring along your drinking shirt to change into after the race day).

Dinner is included in your $50 race registration fee (or if you are not racing but would like to attend or wish to bring along a guest the cost is $30 payable to Mifie or Pam).

You must sign up and register online for your choice of meal before midnight on Tuesday 22nd November (otherwise we’ll assume you won’t be attending and so no meal will be ordered for you).

2) CHRISTMAS PADDLE AND BBQ

We will be holding our annual Christmas Paddle at 3.30pm on Saturday 3rd
December 2011. This will include Carol singing and our traditional revelry and will be followed by a beach BBQ with our friends from the German Dragons.

3) TEAM CHRISTMAS DINNER

Save the date for our Team Christmas Dinner on Saturday 10th December 2011

This will be the chance to put your glad rags on and celebrate the festive season and the achievements of the team over the past year in style.  Partners are welcome and we’ll have more details about this event in the next bulletin.

As we look forward to our big race event at Boat Quay the Captains have requested that paddlers attend all of the training sessions in the meantime.  The next British Dragons Bulletin early next week will include a complete guide to the race weekend itself.

See you at training!

Warmest regards,
Philip N. Morgan - Team Secretary

Putrajaya 2011

In October 2011 Team BritGe (British German Dragons) travelled to Putrajaya, Malaysia to compete in the Malaysia International Dragon Boat Festival 2011.

We entered four race categories and paddled ourselves to two Grand Finals in the Mixed 22 Crew and Ladies 12 Crew races. No bling this time, but we came back with something much better; lots of lovely new friends. It was an awesome weekend and we look forward joining forces as BritGe again in the not too distant future.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make it a great success – BritGe BritGe Hooray!

Mid October Update

Hello Paddlers

PUTRAJAYA TRAINING   |   HALLOWEEN PARTY   |   SINGAPORE REGATTA   |   TRAINING BREAKS   |

1) PUTRAJAYA TRAINING

Our race in Putrajaya (Malaysia) is just one week away.

Our Captains insist that if you are part of the Putrajaya squad then you must attend training this Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.  This Sunday the arrival time at Kallang remains at 09.00 (09.30-11.00 on the water) for the final training with our German team mates.

Those going to Putrajaya will receive an email in the coming week confirming all the arrangements and logistics.

2) HALLOWEEN PARTY

We will be holding our annual Halloween Party at Andy’s house after our training on Saturday 29th October 2011.

Everyone will be asked to contribute $10 (please pay the Social Secretaries). This will cover dinner, mixers and ice.

Please bring along your own choice of alcohol and snacks.  Needless to say (but I will anyway) that fancy dress is compulsory, mandated and absolutely required!

The Halloween party is always memorable.  The first one I attended included the appearance of a ‘guest’ Witch who it seemed had already been deeply affected by the spirits.  Upon arrival she plonked herself down on a chair decorated with tealights and her dress immediately caught fire!  She was only saved from immolation by the quick action of the Captain who blew the flames out before they took hold.  Thankfully she was in no state to realise the dire peril that she had been in and was only slightly singed (with no damage at all sustained to her pointy hat…).

So if you want to join in with the fun and games at one of the liveliest team events of the year then please register online now:

www.britishdragonboat.com/halloween-party/

Guests are also very welcome and you may register them online too. Please register before midnight on Tuesday 25th October.

3) SINGAPORE REGATTA

A reminder about the big race fixture of the year: The Singapore Regatta

Where:….. Boat Quay
When:…..  Sat 26th and Sun 27th November 2011

If you have not yet signed up to race then please register now:

www.britishdragonboat.com/race-registration/

4) TRAINING BREAKS

Please be reminded that training is cancelled on the following dates:

Saturday 22nd October (team in Putrajaya)
Sunday 23rd October (team in Putrajaya)
Sunday 30th October (team recovering from the Halloween Party…)

My best wishes for medal success to everyone racing next weekend in Putrajaya.

Warmest regards,

Change to Sunday training times and make a date with the BritCham Ball

Hello Paddlers

TRAINING RESTART DATE   |   SUNDAY TRAINING TIME CHANGE   |   BRITCHAM BALL   |   FACEBOOK   |

1) TRAINING RESTART DATE

We’ve had our brief training break after the medal successes in Korea and at the SAVA Sprints and now we need to begin training in earnest for Putrajaya and for the Singapore River Regatta…

Training restarts at Kallang on Saturday 24th September 2011 at 3.30pm.

2) SUNDAY TRAINING TIME CHANGE

As you know, we will be joining forces with our friends from the German Dragons to field a strong team at Putrajaya in October.

I’m delighted to let you know that we will be training with members of the German team on Sunday mornings until the race and this has led to a slight adjustment to Sunday training times.

From this weekend onwards Sunday training will be at 09.00am (on the water 09.30-11.00am)

Please adjust your alarm(s) accordingly and enjoy your lie-in folks!

3) BRITCHAM BALL

The BritCham Ball is back to celebrate the year end in true British refined style with a masquerade theme. This is one of the premier social events of the year for the British community in Singapore and it is renowned for being of the highest standard.

The British Dragons have attended this event in previous years and our Social Secretaries want to gauge numbers to see if we can book a whole table this year and also benefit from the early-bird discount.

Where:….. The Ritz Carlton Millenia Hotel
When:….. Friday 18th November 2011
Price:….. $320 per person (early-bird price)

If you are interested in attending (guests are also very welcome) please register your interest online at:
